Eighteen year old Red and her friends are on a road trip in an RV, heading to the beach for Spring Break.
It’s a long drive but spirits are high. Until the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. And as the wheels are shot out, one by one, the friends realise that this is no accident.
There’s a sniper out there. He’s watching them and he knows exactly who they are. One of the group has a secret that the sniper is willing to kill for.
As a game of cat-and-mouse plays out, the group desperately tries to get help. Buried secrets are forced to light and tensions within the group reach deadly levels. Only one thing is for sure. Not everyone will survive the night . . . (Goodreads)
Having read Holly Jackson’s previous books in the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series I was really looking forward to reading Five Survive. I didn’t realise it was due to be released until I was browsing through Goodreads. As soon as it was released on 8th December 2022 I got my hands on a copy to get reading.
Five Survive has an interesting plot with plenty of twists and turns along the way that you don’t expect. As I made my way through the eight hours the storyline is set across I could feel the pace of the storyline pick up especially as the different aspects of the storyline unravel.
The characters all have very different personalities and are well crafted by Holly Jackson. As I made my way through Five Survive I felt as though I was in the RV with them due to how well they brought to life. I found it so interesting the way each of the character’s secrets unravel and cross over.
Five Survive was definitely a great way to start off working towards my reading goal of 2023 and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Young Adult fiction.
